This scholarship program is intended for students who are registered in a CEGEP program leading to university studies in management (business administration, accounting sciences or equivalent).
Number and amount of scholarships
Call for applications
Applicants must meet the following conditions when they submit their application:
- be registered in a CEGEP program leading to university studies in administration or accounting and have completed at least two sessions of the program;
- pursue the objective of becoming a chartered professional accountant;
- fill out the scholarship application form on line and provide their application file by mail to the Foundation by the deadline;
- state that they have never received a CEGEP scholarship from the Foundation of Quebec CPAs;
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- fulfill other criteria deemed relevant by the Foundation.
Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria:
Excellence of academic record (weighting: 45%)
Applicants must provide a current official transcript (transcript of grades) including the R score as well as the seal of the institution. A transcript printed from an Internet file will be accepted provided it includes the following information:
- the applicant's name;
- the program's name;
- the R score;
- the Internet URL.
All other documents, including photocopies, are not accepted. If the URL link does not print, applicants must attach a screenshot of their online file to the transcript.
Presentation letter and extracurricular and community involvement (weighting: 45%)
Applicants must provide a presentation letter exposing their interest for the CPA profession and describing their extracurricular and community involvement while in CEGEP.
Recommendation letter (weighting: 5%)
Applicants must provide a recommendation letter from a person who can support their application and describe their main competencies and personal and professional qualities.
Application package presentation (weighting: 5%)
The CEGEP Scholarship Selection committee expects files to be properly written, contain no spelling errors and be neatly formatted.
Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency
Applicants must include proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency in their application file. Applicants born in Quebec may submit a birth certificate issued by the Directeur de l'état civil. Only photocopies are accepted.
Note: Applicants may include any other information which they consider relevant.
A selection committee made up of 3 to 5 CPAs will be formed to evaluate the scholarship applications that are received.
Presentation of scholarships and method of payment
The scholarships will be payable when the committee has officially selects the recipients and the Board of directors has approved the list, i.e. no later than March 31, 2018.
To be eligible to receive their scholarship, students must be registered in the CEGEP program or have completed it when the scholarship is paid. Their scholarship will be automatically cancelled if they drop out of the program.
To the extent possible, scholarships will be awarded in an official ceremony organized by the CEGEP. Therefore, the documents to be given to recipients will be sent to the person in charge of scholarships at the CEGEP. When scholarships cannot be awarded in an official ceremony, a letter including a cheque will be sent directly to the recipient. Please note that the scholarships are taxable.
Deadline for submitting applications
The duly completed electronic form must be sent to us by no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 2, 2018.
Applicants must also mail us their application file, including the following:
- a transcript including the R score, as mentioned;
- a presentation letter including their social involvement;
- a recommendation letter;
- a proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
The Foundation must receive your complete application file by no later than 4:00 p.m. on February 9, 2018. Make sure that you clearly identify your documents. All incomplete or late files will be automatically rejected. No file received by email will be accepted. Application files delivered in person are accepted, provided they respect the established deadline. The Foundation will not follow up on missing, incomplete or late documents.
Responsibilities of the Foundation
The Foundation’s sole responsibilities are to pay out each scholarship and ensure compliance with its rules.
Changes to program rules
The Foundation reserves the right to change, without prior notice, the value of the scholarships and the program rules.
The provisions of this program apply to the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2018.
