*To be eligible for this scholarship program, students who are in the process of registering for the PEP must have accumulated 75 or more credits at one of the undergraduate programs recognized by the Order, or have completed it and maintained a minimum grade point average of 2.8/4.3.

  • if applicants are not yet registered for the Order’s PEP when they submit their application, they must agree to submit an application for admission to the Order’s PEP that begins in:

    • the summer or fall 2018 session for the scholarship competition ending in January 24, 2018;
      OR
    • the winter 2019 session for the scholarship competition ending in September 21, 2018.

Note

By allowing students to apply twice per year, the Foundation seeks to give everyone an equal to chance to become a CPA and assist certain students throughout the entire process, if need be.

Evaluation criteria and required documents

While priority is given to the financial situation of the applicants in the application evaluation process, other criteria are also considered.

The suggested indicators for evaluating the applications are:

Financial situation and family status

Applicants must answer all the questions on the scholarship application form, provide the requested figures for their income and expenses and submit any relevant document to the Foundation that can be used to analyze their application.

Impact of the scholarship on the financial situation of the applicants and continuation of their studies

In the space provided in the scholarship application form, applicants must describe the various life factors or events that affect their current financial situation and explain how the Foundation’s Assistance for Success Scholarship would impact their financial situation, and especially whether it would enable them to continue their studies or not.

Undergraduate studies in progress or completed

Applicants must;

  • provide a current official transcript of the courses completed in one of the undergraduate programs recognized by the Order confirming that they have earned a minimum of 75 credits and maintained a minimum grade point average of 2.8/4.3;

AND

  • indicate, in the space provided in the scholarship application form, when they plan to begin the PEP (summer or fall 2018 session for the scholarship competition ending in January 24, 2018).
Professional Education Program in progress

If applicants have already completed part of the PEP, they must provide:

  • a current official transcript for the courses they have completed in the PEP delivered by an Order-accredited university;

OR

  • the results obtained to date on module examinations in the national program delivered by the Order.
Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency

Applicants must include proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency in their application file. Applicants born in Quebec may submit a birth certificate issued by the Directeur de l'état civil. Only photocopies are accepted.

Presentation of the file
The Assistance towards success scholarships award committee expects quality files that are neatly formatted. The consistency of the provided information is also an important factor.

Presentation of scholarships and method of payment

For students already registered for the PEP

Once the Board of directors has approved the list of scholarship recipients, a letter will be sent with a cheque directly to the recipients after April 1, 2018 or after December 1, 2018.

It should be noted that the scholarship is taxable.

For students in the process of registering for the PEP

The scholarships will be paid when the Board of directors has approved the list of scholarship recipients, and the recipients have provided proof of registration in the Order’s PEP by the deadlines, which are:
