The accounting profession in Quebec: The future looks bright!

Montreal, March 6, 2013 – The accounting profession in Quebec, unified under the CPA banner since May 16, 2012, is starting 2013 with a bang thanks to a strong showing by aspiring CPAs ready to take on any challenge. A total of 1,536 Quebec candidates for the CPA designation passed the professional exams in their respective paths in 2012-2013. This represents 642 CPA, CA candidates, 419 CPA, CGA candidates and 475 CPA, CMA candidates, 23 of whom took top honours in their program.
All these people who had the pleasure of celebrating their success in the last few months have taken a major step towards the CPA designation, a designation that will open the doors wide to the business world. According to the Chair of the Order Stephan Robitaille, FCPA, FCGA, “the success of these 1,536 candidates at the exams stems from their tenacious efforts throughout their university studies and the significant contribution of competent professors and training employers dedicated to the success of the next generation.”
More importantly, this large cohort shows that the profession is still top-of-mind for women and men who strive for great heights. “The Order is proud to have so many talented aspiring members. They embody excellence and have a very bright future ahead of them,” said Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, President and CEO of the CPA Order.
