An organization called CPA Sans Frontières is born

Montreal, May 14, 2013 – A group of chartered professional accountants wanting to make a positive contribution to the wellness of populations in need, for the most part from outside our borders, has just set up an organization called CPA Sans Frontières. This new organization thus joins the ranks of other ‘Sans Frontières/Without Borders’ projects initiated by the international cooperation organization called Terre Sans Frontières.

CPA Sans Frontières is intended to volunteer the professional services of public accountants in their recognized areas of specialization to NGOs and organizations serving populations in need, while supporting the development of local competencies. During their humanitarian missions, volunteers will support and accompany various local groups. This administrative and accounting support aims at achieving sustainable development in the field and is a complement to the local resources which will remain at the centre of all interventions. In fact, a first group of CPAs is getting ready to fly out to Haïti on a first exploratory mission on May 29. This will allow for the development of an intervention strategy with Terre Sans Frontières’ on-site partners.

The organization can already count on the support of the Ordre des comptables professionnels du Québec. CPA Sans Frontières’ mission is also in line with the Order’s wish to develop an action plan with regard to sustainable development. “The accounting profession is guided by the values of integrity, excellence, thoroughness, commitment and open-mindedness. In fact, the creation of this organization goes to show that CPAs get involved in their community and are totally devoted to serving causes that are important to them”, reminded Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, President and CEO of the Order.

“We are extremely happy to offer CPAs our cooperation, as we invite them to join ‘Sans Frontières/Without Borders’ projects, so that they can volunteer in their field of competence and support our mission” rejoices Robert Gonneville, Director General of Terre Sans Frontières.
