Foundation of Quebec CPAs raises $51,300 during its annual golf tournament

Montreal, September 24, 2013 – It was with great joy and pride that Michel Verreault, FCPA, FCMA, Chair of the Foundation of Quebec CPAs and honorary chair of the 2013 golf tournament, announced the total amount raised during the organization’s annual golf tournament held on September 9, 2013 at the Saint-Raphaël Golf Club in Île Bizard. Thanks to the nearly 140 golfers who participated, the Foundation was able to raise $51,300, which will be redistributed throughout the year in the form of scholarships to students who make up Quebec’s next generation of accounting professionals.

“The participants’ generosity once again demonstrates the vitality of our profession and its ability to engage CPA members and the business community. We can all be proud of the money raised, which will help support aspiring CPAs and propel them to great heights,” said Mr. Verreault.

According to Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, President and CEO of the Order, “Fostering and supporting the talent of those who will make up the next generation in industry, public practice, government and education is crucial. A world of new opportunities and exciting jobs await these future CPAs. Our support will enable them to realize their dreams and ambitions.”

A very special thanks to Ernst & Young for providing the Foundation with a 12-seat luxury suite for the Cirque du Soleil performance at the Bell Centre on December 20, 2013. This magnificient prize, won by Alain Cousineau and Michel Mercier, helped the Foundation raise $3,500 during its live auction. The Foundation would also like to thank all its partners who contributed to the event’s success, and especially its Elite, Distinction and Associate partners.
