The Ordre des CPA du Québec welcomes an impressive cohort of chartered professional accountants

Montreal, November 25, 2013 – During a moving ceremony held on Saturday, over 325 new CPAs proudly received their permit to practice, making their official entry into the accounting profession. Hosted by Pénélope McQuade, this prestigious event provided an opportunity for the new CPAs, along with family and friends, to celebrate the culmination of many years of hard work. A total of 928 CPAs have joined the third largest professional order in Quebec since April 2013.

The CPA designation, the key to success

The Chair of the Order, Stephan Robitaille, FCPA, FCGA, congratulated each new CPA by underscoring that their determination and perseverance assured their admission into a profession guided by excellence, rigour, commitment and openness. “Your CPA designation will position you strongly in the business world, serving as your passport to success, said Mr. Robitaille. It is now your turn to embody these values in every aspect of society.”

The high standards to be met in order to obtain the CPA designation are a guarantee of professionalism, a much sought-after quality in the job market. “Now that they are armed with valuable skills and knowledge, a promising career awaits these new CPAs, said Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Order. “Our profession’s vitality and rejuvenation are the result of close collaboration between the Order and its university partners, who are instrumental in educating high-calibre candidates prepared to play a significant role in developing enterprises and helping make our institutions more efficient.”

The Order would also like to recognize the CPA Foundation’s contribution in helping cultivate the next generation. By providing tangible support in the form of scholarships and awards to students who are motivated to pursue their studies and get involved in the community, the Foundation plays an active role in the education of future CPAs and the new elite in CPA knowledge.
