CPA Canada Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF)

ACAF Generation

In Quebec, the ACAF is currently only offered in French.

The Canadian CPA profession has designed the Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF) for individuals aspiring to elevate their accounting and finance skills to an intermediate level. By developing the competencies demanded by top employers, the ACAF is a real springboard to a promising career.

What is the ACAF?

The ACAF is a CPA Canada education program delivered by universities across the country. The program is made up of 11 courses, i.e. 6 technical courses1 and 5 applied courses2, as well as a final examination. On successful completion of the program, you will receive a certificate from CPA Canada.

1 The technical courses build on prior education, providing intermediate- to advanced-level technical content in financial reporting, corporate finance, audit and assurance, taxation, management accounting and information technology.
2 The applied courses enhance your existing accounting education and experience with the additional technical knowledge, IT applications, communications and workplace skills needed to progress in your career.

Important! The ACAF does not lead to the chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation.

The examination evaluates the knowledge acquired in the Business Applications applied course, which is the last course of the ACAF program.

The examination is held 3 times a year (January, May and September). The exact dates will be announced in 2018.
