THE CPA ADVANTAGE
2021 CFE: a Quebecer achieves the highest standing
in Canada
The outstanding performance of
Chloé Bourgault-Bourassa, who obtained the
highest standing in Canada, earned her the Governor
General’s Gold Medal, a $5,000 prize from CPA
Canada, and a $5,000 scholarship from the Quebec CPA
Foundation.
In addition to this feat, we should mention that 21
out of the 1,230 Quebec candidates now celebrating
their passing score on the CFE also made the
Canadian Honour Roll. Now that is something worth
celebrating!
Request for proposals – Audit of financial
statements for the Order and the CPA Foundation
The Order is seeking an independent
auditor for its financial statements as at March 31,
2023, as well as for those of our professional
liability insurance fund for Quebec CPAs, our
employees pension plan and the CPA Foundation.
Respondents have until December 17 to file a request
for information and until January 5, 2022, to submit
a proposal.
Last TaxCOOP rendezvous – Propelling a new era of
tax cooperation
TaxCOOP, a strong advocate of tax
equity and the fight against tax evasion on a global
scale since 2015, is launching a virtual call for
projects on December 9 to promote the implementation
of a more effective, fairer tax system. The Order is
a partner of the Quebec portion of the competition.

An exceptional Fellow celebrates two momentous
occasions
Gérard Lavoie, a
Fellow who has made tremendous contributions to the
profession, celebrated his 100th birthday in the
company of his loved ones this November—the same
month that marked his 60th year as a member of the
Order.
Founder of the firm Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton in
Matane, Mr. Lavoie has been deeply engaged with his
community for his entire career. He remains a source
of inspiration and a valued witness to the long
history of our profession.

Soirée des Fellows: Round-up of an emotionally rich
event!
On November 27th, the Order
celebrated the induction of 31 distinguished CPAs to
the prestigious designation of Fellow. After a year
apart, what a pleasure it was to experience this
moment in person!
The event also honoured Brigitte Chartier
and the organization CPA Without Borders,
respectively winners of the CPA awards of excellence
for Meritorious Service and for Outreach of the
profession, as well as Michel Bergeron
(2020) and Josée Leclerc (2021),
recipients of the Quebec Interprofessional Council
Award of Merit. The CPA Foundation also saluted the
remarkable generosity of one of its donors,
Guy Blanchette, FCPA.
