“Any discussion of the mistreatment of seniors
and vulnerable persons must take into account
material and financial exploitation and
cannot only involve stakeholders in the
health and social services network.” This
was the message the Order conveyed before
the parliamentary committee studying Bill
115 last week. Not only was the message
clearly heard by the minister and the opposition
parties, but it should also lead to concrete
actions that will leverage CPA expertise.

The Order took advantage of its appearance
to renew the debate over striking the right
balance between reporting abuses and professional
secrecy. It applauds MNAs for being sensitive
to this issue which concerns more and more
stakeholders, including the Office des professions.
It just goes to show how CPAs are recognized
as a leading influential voice.
