Flexibility measures for compulsory continuing education
Due to the particular circumstances related to COVID-19, the Order has implemented measures to provide greater flexibility to those CPAs who are struggling to meet their continuing education requirements within the prescribed deadlines. If you find yourself in this situation, be advised that you have until October 16 to make up for any missing hours without penalty.
If you have a training passport or are registered for one of the e-learning activities being offered by the Order for 2019-2020, please note that the extension period does not apply to the passport validity period or to the e-learning activities, whose deadline is still August 31, 2020. Therefore, there’s no time to lose in completing your online training sessions, since they’ll no longer be accessible in your file after that date.
Take advantage of this extension to make up for missing hours and comply with your requirements. Please reach out to our team if you need help!
You have until September 10 to share your thoughts. A compilation of comments received will be submitted for consideration during the virtual Annual General Meeting on September 11.
Due to the safety regulations currently in place, the Order’s next Annual General Meeting will be held online. Members who have registered can vote remotely and ask questions or comment on an agenda item live.
During its July 7, 2020, meeting, the AcSB decided to issue an exposure draft in which it proposed amendments to Section 3065, “Leases.” The proposed amendments are intended to provide relief for both lessees and lessors for rent concessions on accounting in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. These amendments could be relevant if your company received assistance under the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CECRA) program. The exposure draft is expected to be issued in September 2020.
