Controlling your credit has to be free of charge
With the National Assembly’s clause-by-clause study of Bill 53, the Credit Assessment Agents Act, under way, the Order is calling for measures such as recognizing the right to a credit security freeze and ensuring the exercise of this right is free of charge. To guarantee the full exercise of citizens’ newly recognized rights, we are also calling for:
  • the right to be informed and the right to have errors corrected;
  • real access, in French;
  • more stringent supervision of credit agents.

New reporting requirements for T4 slips
For the 2020 tax year, the CRA will require that new amounts be reported on T4 Statement of Remuneration Paid slips. The additional reporting requirements will apply to all employers, and will help the CRA validate payments of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) and the Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB).

In November 2019, the Accounting Standards Board (AcSB) issued Section 3041, Agriculture, in Part II of the CPA Canada Handbook – Accounting, to provide guidance on recognizing biological assets and eliminating diversity in this area.
