A single CPA designation

A new era for the profession

As the Order’s 10-year anniversary approaches, the profession will soon take the final step in its transition to a single CPA designation.

As required under the Chartered Professional Accountants Act, the transitional provision specifying that holders of a permit to practise issued by a legacy order (CA, CGA or CMA) use the CPA designation with their legacy designation will soon cease to apply.

Starting May 16, 2022, all Quebec CPAs will use the CPA designation only, with no mention of their legacy designation. Members will have until September 1, 2022, to update their email signatures, stationery and advertising accordingly.

Please note that everyone who participated in the training activities or purchased the programs and tools from the Order will be informed of the implications of the amended rules.
