Sustainability reporting standards: Status report and consultations

The work of the new International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) to create a global baseline of standards constitutes a crucial step toward the standardization of sustainability reporting at an international level.

Single CPA designation as of May 16

Please note that starting May 16, 2022, all Quebec CPAs will use the CPA designation only, with no mention of their legacy designation. You will have until September 1, 2022, to update your email signatures, stationery and advertising accordingly.

New rules for immediate expensing

The CRA has stated that taxpayers can include immediate expensing in the calculation of their capital cost allowance deduction. However, adjustment requests cannot be processed until after the final draft receives Royal Assent.

New transactions have been excluded by Revenu Québec for the following mandatory disclosures:

Virtual roundtable discussions – AcSB Exposure Draft – Pension plans

On May 11, the AcSB will hold virtual roundtable discussions (in French and English) to solicit feedback on its Exposure Draft on pension plans (Part IV).

ASPE and NFPO – Customer’s accounting for cloud computing arrangements

The AcSB has published an In Brief providing an overview of its Exposure Draft on the proposed guideline. The proposals will be discussed at roundtables (in French and English) in June 2022.

PRABAM and FRR – Volet 1: Instructions under CSRS 4400 now online

The Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation has published online instructions for municipalities and auditors regarding final accountability reports that are subject to agreed-upon procedures engagements under CSRS 4400 relative to the Programme d’aide financière pour les bâtiments municipaux (PRABAM) and the support for regional outreach portion of the Fonds régions et ruralité (FRR – Volet 1).
