10 tips for meeting the compulsory continuing education requirements

  1. Formation continue obligatoireIdentify the requirements that apply to you for each reference year and period, including those related to the public accountancy permit as well as the title of financial planner and the CA•IT and CA•IFA designations. 
  2. Plan your training activities based on the qualifying criteria and your interests, and register early
  3. Enter your continuing education hours in your file as you complete them.
  4. Take advantage of the free training activities recognized by the Order and suited to your needs (including some offered by CPA Canada).
  5. Avoid registering for a training activity you have already completed within the same reference period, unless the content has changed significantly.
  6. Take advantage of the 15 hours of self-study allowed per year and don’t forget to report them. 
  7. Be sure to complete all the training activities you wish to report for the current year by August 31.
  8. On August 31, make sure that all your continuing education hours have been entered in your file.
  9. Report all other continuing education hours completed before September 30 of the current year.
  10. Keep all proof of participation in training and learning activities for 12 months after the end of the reference period
