The Order has submitted a brief to Minister of Finance Carlos Leitão as part of the consultations held by the new Quebec government in the lead up to the tabling of the 2014-2015 budget.

Brief submitted as part of the pre-budget consultations
As part of the consultations held in the lead up to the tabling of Quebec’s 2014-2015 budget, the CPA Order submitted a brief that includes 17 recommendations to Minister of Finance and the Economy Nicolas Marceau. The main conclusion of the brief is that, now more than ever, Quebec’s economic environment needs a major overhaul.

Brief on D’Amours Report findings
The Ordre submitted a French brief to the Public Finance Committee as part of special consultations to study the report entitled Innover pour pérenniser le système de retraite. The Order stressed the importance of getting back to the very essence of our retirement system whose aim is to provide sufficient income to sustain an adequate standard of living in retirement, in keeping with our collective ability to pay.

Brief prepared by the Order on Bill 17
Last week, the Order presented a substantive French brief on Bill 17, An Act to amend the Professional Code with respect to disciplinary justice, to the Committee on Institutions. Since protecting the public is one of its main areas of strategic focus, the Order applauds the government’s commitment to optimize the mechanisms in place to ensure that the public and professionals are better served and obtain justice within a reasonable timeframe.
