Frequently asked questions

I cannot attend the provincial Permit Presentation ceremony in Montreal. Is there another ceremony I can attend?   >

Does your regional group hold a Permit Presentation ceremony? To find out, check the list of regional group ceremonies. For more information about one of these ceremonies, contact the regional group that holds it. You can also register online on the page of the event you would like to attend.

However, you may not attend a different provincial ceremony than the one to which you are invited.

I cannot attend the provincial ceremony or my regional group's ceremony. How will I receive my permit?  >

Note that your permit and your CPA lapel pin will be mailed to you in the event that you are unable to attend a Permit Presentation ceremony. These items are mailed twice per year: once in the winter and once in the summer. Make sure that your contact information in your file is up to date to avoid delays in receiving these items.

Is it possible to attend a different provincial Permit Presentation ceremony than the one to which I was invited?   >

Given the large number of new CPAs invited to each ceremony and the limited number of seats available, invitations are non-transferrable from one ceremony to another. Therefore, you may not attend a different provincial ceremony than the one to which you are invited. This measure is meant to give all new members an opportunity to attend their respective ceremony.

I have a temporary permit. Can I attend a Permit Presentation ceremony?   >

To attend a Permit Presentation ceremony, you need to have already obtained your “permanent” permit. You will then receive an invitation to the next provincial ceremony that you may attend and, where applicable, a separate invitation to a regional group ceremony.

If you have questions about obtaining your “permanent” permit, please write directly to the staff in charge of the Order’s roll at

I have registered for the provincial Permit Presentation ceremony. What should I do next?   >

One week before the event, you will receive an email that outlines the event schedule. You will then be invited to arrive at the ceremony site starting at 1:00 p.m. to pick up your gown and attend an important meeting to learn more about the event schedule. Parents, friends and colleagues may arrive at the site starting at 1:45 p.m. and take their seats in the main room.
