Frequently asked questions

I cannot attend the Greater Montreal area ceremony. Is there another ceremony I can attend? >

To participate in a permit presentation ceremony, you must be employed by an organization located in the region where it is held or have graduated from a university in the same territory. View the list of permit presentation ceremonies. For more information about one of them, contact the group that organizes it. You can register on line on the page of the event in which you would like to participate.

However, you may not attend a different Greater Montreal area ceremony than the one to which you are invited.

I cannot participate in any of the permit presentation ceremonies. How will I receive my permit? >

If you are unable to participate in a permit presentation ceremony, please note that your permit to practice and your CPA pin will be mailed to you.

For people who reside in the Greater Montreal area, permits and pins are mailed twice per year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Make sure that your contact information is up to date in your file if you want to avoid delays in receiving these items.

Is it possible to attend a different Greater Montreal area Permit Presentation ceremony than the one to which I was invited? >

Given the large number of new CPAs invited to each ceremony and the limited number of seats available, invitations are non-transferrable from one ceremony to another. Therefore, you may not attend a different Greater Montreal area ceremony than the one to which you are invited. This measure is meant to give all new members an opportunity to attend their respective ceremony.

I have a temporary permit. Can I attend a Greater Montreal area Permit Presentation ceremony? >

To attend a Permit Presentation ceremony, you need to have already obtained your “permanent” permit. You will then receive an invitation to the next ceremony that you may attend.

If you have questions about obtaining your “permanent” permit, please write directly to the staff in charge of the Order’s roll at

I have registered for the Greater Montreal area Permit Presentation ceremony. What should I do next? >
