Professional secrecy and reporting abuse: The Order refers a legal opinion to the government

Concerned about the amendment made to Bill 115 compelling all professionals except lawyers and notaries to report abuse, the Order sought a legal opinion on the matter, which concludes that “in its present form, Bill 115 only offers limited and inadequate protection to vulnerable persons.” [Translation]

The Order would like Mtre Baudouin’s and Mtre Morissette’s analysis and recommendations to be used to improve Bill 115 prior to its final adoption, with a view to truly protecting seniors and persons in vulnerable situations.
