Montreal, November 2, 2017– November is Financial Literacy Month in Canada, and the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (the Quebec CPA Order) and the Quebec Public Library Association are joining forces for the second year in a row to rollout CPA Canada’s Financial Literacy program, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year.

More than 75 financial literacy sessions will be offered in public libraries across Quebec. Over 50 volunteer CPAs will share their knowledge on a range of topics covering all stages of life: teaching kids about money, managing finances in retirement, estate planning, tax strategies, fraud protection for seniors, saving strategies, and many more. These sessions are in addition to some 40 other sessions that were offered in September and October through this partnership.

"Public libraries are the best institutions for helping individuals acquire basic financial knowledge, regardless of their age or financial situation. This partnership with the Quebec CPA Order means that libraries are better equipped to fulfil their overall mission to promote literacy," says Chantal Brodeur, Chair of the Quebec Public Library Association.

"The sessions address a real need, proven time and time again, to improve Quebecers’ knowledge of personal finance. By combining the recognized expertise of CPAs and the strength of the public library network, our partnership enables us to reach individuals in their community and help fill this need," says Geneviève Mottard, CPA, CA, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Quebec CPA Order.
