276 new CPAs receive their permit from the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec

Montreal, April 2, 2013 – It was with great pride that the CPA Order rolled out the blue carpet and presented 276 recently admitted chartered professional accountants with their permit. A total of 1,115 new CPAs have joined the ranks of the Order since its creation in May 2012. The Permit Presentation ceremony, which was held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, was attended by parents and friends who came to congratulate these talented new professionals.
A dynamic profession central to Quebec’s development
“As the first anniversary of the creation of the CPA Order approaches, you are entering a profession guided by the values of integrity, excellence, rigour, commitment and openness,” said Chair of the Order Stephan Robitaille, FCPA, FCGA, to the new CPAs. “As CPAs, you are now key players in Quebec's economic and social development. I am confident that your drive and sense of ethics will ensure that you leave your mark wherever you work,” added Mr. Robitaille.
In the words of Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, President and CEO of the Order, this new cohort of chartered professional accountants is further evidence of the vitality and appeal of the accounting profession in Quebec. “These 276 new CPAs will help shape the new face of the accounting profession. Their desire to push the envelope and always surpass themselves will continue to inspire young people to choose the CPA designation. Also of note is the important work of our various university, government, industry and public practice partners who, through their support and encouragement, enhance the visibility of our profession.”

Those who attended this illustrious ceremony were honoured by the presence of host Pénélope McQuade, Shelley Brown, Co-chair of CPA Canada, and Serge Cardin, CPA, CGA, the MNA for Sherbrooke, who wanted to be on hand to welcome the new chartered professional accountants in his own name and on behalf of the Premier of Quebec.
