The board of the Order has formalized the selection of the 12 CPAs whose exceptional achievements in their area of activity have earned them the prestigious title of Fellow. The nomination files they submitted highlighted the inductees’. These 12 ambassadors of the profession will officially receive their title during the Soirée des Fellows, to be held on May 9.

The CPA Order applauds thoroughness of Godbout Report
The Quebec CPA Order has reviewed the final report of the Québec Taxation Review Committee released today and would like to commend the committee for the thorough work it conducted in tabling a report that will be of great use to Quebec society. The Order had been calling for such an exercise for many years.

The CPA Order presents the Outstanding Achievement Award and welcomes 12 new Fellows
Today, the Quebec CPA Order released the names of the 12 chartered professional accountants who received the prestigious title of Fellow (FCPA) this year. The Order also announced the recipient of the 2015 Outstanding Achievement Award presented to an FCPA in recognition of his numerous professional achievements, extensive community service, determination and exemplary leadership.

Reminder to all CPAs: August 31, 2015, is not only the end of the current reference year, but also the end of the 3-year period that began on September 1, 2012. You therefore have until August 31, 2015 to complete the minimum number of continuing education hours required under the regulation for the current year AND for the reference period coming to a close.

A PROductive third CPA Student Congress
More than 150 students from 14 Quebec universities gathered at Hôtel Sacacomie in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts from March 13 to 15 for the 3rd edition of the CPA Student Congress. Hosted by Norampac/Cascades, this year’s congress was organized by the CPA Student Committee of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, with the support and collaboration of the Quebec CPA Order.

The concept of materiality under IFRSs
To address the various pre-IFRS application interpretations of the concept of materiality, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) began discussions in 2014 on the challenges of financial reporting under IFRSs.
