CRA: Gifting tax shelter schemes
Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) reiterates its warning about gifting tax shelter schemes. For the 2014 tax year, CRA will assess returns on which a donation tax credit is claimed under a gifting tax shelter arrangement only after the tax shelter has been audited. This procedure was also in place for the 2012 and 2013 tax years. Full details on the CRA website

Audit of the final accountability report of municipalities under the TECQ 2010-2013 program
In order for municipalities to have their public works program for the 2014-2018 gas tax and Quebec contribution (TECQ) program approved without delay, the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Occupation du territoire (MAMOT) is asking auditors involved to submit their audit report on the financial accountability report for the TECQ 2010-2013 program before January 31, 2015.

Municipal financial reporting handbook – December 2014 update
The Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Occupation du territoire has posted the December 2014 edition of the Manuel de la présentation de l’information financière municipale (municipal financial reporting handbook or MPIFM for short). The Order’s technical working group on municipal governments invites preparers of municipal financial reports and auditors involved to read the summary of the update.
