Given the unification of the accounting profession in May 2012, three professional development programs are offered exceptionally this year, each with its own fee schedule. The first combined program, offering all CPAs the same member price, will be available in September 2013.

As we take on our new duties, we are both thrilled and proud to announce that the Chartered Professional Accountants Act came into force on May 16. Since then, Quebec’s 35,000 accounting professionals have become members of a single order that will now govern them, the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés (CPA) du Québec.

Coming into force of the Chartered Professional Accountants Act
The Chartered Professional Accountants Act came into force on May 16, 2012 thereby establishing the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés (CPA) du Québec with a membership of 35,000 accounting professionals who were until now members of the Ordre des CA, the Ordre des CGA and the Ordre des CMA. This unification means that the strengths and expertise of these three orders are now combined within the Ordre des CPA.
