Foundation of Quebec CPAs raises $51,300 during its annual golf tournament
It was with great joy and pride that Michel Verreault, FCPA, FCMA, Chair of the Foundation of Quebec CPAs and honorary chair of the 2013 golf tournament, announced the total amount raised during the organization’s annual golf tournament held on September 9, 2013 at the Saint-Raphaël Golf Club in Île Bizard.

“Professional” national ad campaign for the Ordre des CPA du Québec
The Order is launching a new advertising blitz with CPA Canada. The unification of the accounting profession, which took place in Quebec in May 2012, is now about to become a reality across the country, enabling the profession in Quebec to maximize its impact on the public by being involved in a national ad campaign.

When the Ordre des CPA du Québec appeared before the Committee on Public Finance, which is currently studying the recommendations set out in the D’Amours Report, it stressed the importance of getting back to the very essence of our retirement system whose aim is to provide sufficient income to sustain an adequate standard of living in retirement, in keeping with our collective ability to pay.

The Ordre des CPA du Québec honours its first nine Fellow Chartered Professional Accountants
Over 150 people gathered last Saturday at the Delta Centre-Ville in Montreal for the memorable Soirée des Fellows, the first such event organized by the Ordre des CPA du Québec which recently celebrated its first anniversary. The prestigious title of Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant was awarded to nine members, and the Outstanding Achievement Award was presented to an FCPA.

The Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés (CPA) du Québec is proud and excited to celebrate its first anniversary today. Created from the unification of the three bodies that previously governed the practice of the accounting profession in Quebec, the CPA Order is now the third largest professional order in the province.

An organization called CPA Sans Frontières is born
A group of chartered professional accountants wanting to make a positive contribution to the wellness of populations in need, for the most part from outside our borders, has just set up an organization called CPA Sans Frontières. This new organization thus joins the ranks of other ‘Sans Frontières/Without Borders’ projects initiated by the international cooperation organization called Terre Sans Frontières.

276 new CPAs receive their permit from the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec
It was with great pride that the CPA Order rolled out the blue carpet and presented 276 recently admitted chartered professional accountants with their permit. The Permit Presentation ceremony, which was held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, was attended by parents and friends who came to congratulate these talented new professionals.

The accounting profession in Quebec: The future looks bright!
The accounting profession in Quebec, unified under the CPA banner since May 16, 2012, is starting 2013 with a bang thanks to a strong showing by aspiring CPAs ready to take on any challenge. A total of 1,536 Quebec candidates for the CPA designation passed the professional exams in their respective paths in 2012-2013.
