Montreal, November 1, 2019 – November is Financial Literacy Month in Canada. For the fourth year in a row, the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (the Quebec CPA Order) and the Quebec Public Library Association are joining forces to roll out the CPA Financial Literacy Program in Quebec.

More than 50 financial literacy sessions will be offered in public libraries all across the province. Volunteer chartered professional accountants will share their knowledge on a range of topics covering all stages of life: teaching kids about money, managing finances in retirement, estate planning, tax strategies, fraud protection for seniors, saving strategies, and many more.

“Each year, because of their privileged position in communities, public libraries help Quebecers of all ages and financial situations develop an array of literacy skills,” said Denis Chouinard, Chair of the Quebec Public Library Association. “This renewed partnership with the Quebec CPA Order allows libraries to support users who wish to acquire basic financial knowledge and improve their financial literacy.”

“Many Quebecers are finding it increasingly difficult to navigate the growing number of ever more complex financial choices available to them,” added Geneviève Mottard, CPA, CA, President, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of the Quebec CPA Order. “By combining the expertise of CPAs and the local access afforded by the public library network, we can reach our fellow citizens in their communities and help them make informed and responsible financial decisions.”
