The CRHA and CPA Orders join forces to reduce financial stress among quebec workers

Montreal, December 2, 2019 – With Financial Literacy Month having just come to a close, the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (CRHA Order) and the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (CPA Order) are joining forces to reduce financial stress among Quebec workers.
As the latest data shows that financial worries are the leading source of stress among Canadians, the CRHA and CPA orders want to empower Quebecers with better coping skills.
First, throughout the year, CPA volunteers will facilitate free workplace sessions, allowing employers to offer their staff the possibility to gain knowledge or improve their basic skills to make informed financial decisions. In addition, over the coming months, the two orders will explore collaboration opportunities to develop new tools to meet the most pressing financial literacy needs.
“Financial stress affects all workers, regardless of age or income level,” said Manon Poirier, CHRP, Executive Director of the CRHA Order. “Besides having adverse effects on productivity, it can damage employees’ psychological health. With this first initiative, the Order hopes to support financial wellness by helping employers strengthen their employees’ financial literacy skills.”
“Faced with the growing number and complexity of financial choices, many Quebecers are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with financial stress,” added Geneviève Mottard, CPA, CA, President, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary of the Quebec CPA Order. “By combining the expertise of chartered professional accountants with the knowledge that certified human resources professionals have of organizations, we can reach our fellow citizens in their workplaces and help them make informed and responsible financial decisions.”
