The Quebec CPA Order shares its thoughts
The Quebec CPA Order (the Order) weighed in today on a number of issues related to Quebec’s tax system and the ongoing review of government programs during the public consultations of the Québec Taxation Review Committee. The Order outlined a series of proposals and conditions to help steer the Quebec government toward an equitable and more effective management of the province’s public finances.

Interest rates for the 4th calendar quarter
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Québec recently announced the prescribed annual interest rates that will apply to amounts owed to them and amounts they owe to individuals and corporations. These rates are calculated quarterly in accordance with applicable legislation and are in effect from October 1 to December 31, 2014.

Enhancement of the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit
The federal government announced its plans to double the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit and make it refundable. The maximum amount that can be claimed under this credit will increase to $1,000 as of the 2014 taxation year. The credit will be refundable as of the 2015 taxation year.
