Auditing and Assurance Standards Board and Canadian Bar Association issue joint Exposure Draft
The Exposure Draft entitled “Joint Policy Statement Concerning Communications with Law Firms Regarding Claims and Possible Claims in Connection with the Preparation and Audit of Financial Statements” proposes to revise the existing joint policy statement (JPS). Stakeholders (auditors, financial statement preparers, law firms and legal advisors) are invited to submit their comments by April 6, 2015. Comment on the Exposure Draft

New measures for individuals and businesses
In its December information bulletin, Quebec’s Ministère des Finances announced, among other things, an increase in certain limits for the purposes of calculating the refundable tax credit for childcare expenses, and the deferral of the application of changes to the refundable tax credit relating to resources announced in 2012. New model financial statements and guides for CMHC-subsidized organizations
The Portfolio Management and Loans Administration Centre of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) – Quebec Region has sent out the new models and guides to be used by organizations it subsidizes in order to comply with the change in accounting framework announced in the November 4 issue of the CPA Newsletter, effective for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2014.

On May 28, 2014, the International Accounting Standards Board and the Financial Accounting Standards Board issued a converged standard on the recognition of revenue from commercial contracts: IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
