Spotlight on excellence at the Ambassadors Gala of the Quebec CPA Order

Montreal, November 27, 2014 – Last Saturday, an impressive cohort of 103 graduates of the CPA, CMA and CPA, CMA-MBA executive programs were welcomed into the profession during the Ambassadors Gala of the Quebec CPA Order, hosted by Anne-Marie Withenshaw. This wonderful event also provided an opportunity to present the CPA Awards of Excellence, the Fernand-Cloutier Award and the QIC Award of Merit to chartered professional accountants who have made their mark.
CPA Awards of Excellence
For the first time, the Ambassadors Gala was the backdrop for the CPA Awards of Excellence presented to seven men and women who enhance the visibility of the profession and stand out for their leadership, dynamism and community involvement. “These exceptional professionals, who have distinguished themselves through their significant achievements, embody the values that go hand in hand with the CPA designation, and are true ambassadors of the accounting profession in Quebec,” said Alain Dugal, FCPA, CA, chair of the Order.

Fernand-Cloutier Award
During this lavish event, the CPA Order presented the Fernand-Cloutier Award, which includes a $6,000 cash prize, to the team of Executive Program graduates that obtained the best results during the final stage of the CPA, CMA accreditation process, i.e. the Board Report. This year, the four recipients who share the cash prize offered by the CPA Foundation are Hadia Amrane, Robert Masciotra, Roselaine Rocheleau and Charles Auguste Taschereau, all graduates of Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business.
QIC Award of Merit
In recognition of his significant contribution to the accounting profession in Quebec, Stephan Robitaille, FCPA, FCGA, was presented with the Quebec Interprofessional Council Award of Merit. According to the president and chief executive officer of the Order, Daniel McMahon, FCPA, FCA, “the determination, competence and integrity demonstrated by the man who became the very first chair of the Order after the unification of the profession in May 2012 were essential in building a solid foundation for the new Order. Thanks to his hard work during his term as chair, our profession and the reputation of the CPA designation can continue to grow.”
