Registration with the Order

Registration period1

  • Until December 31, 2016: fall and winter sessions
  • January 1–31, 2017: winter session only

The application for registration enables applicants to open a file as a candidate with the Order, get a Securexam licence and access the CPA Canada Handbook

You must register if:

  1. you hold an undergraduate degree recognized in Quebec or the equivalent;
  2. AND you are ready to begin the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) now or as of the next session.

If you do not meet these two criteria, you cannot register at this time.

If you are ready to begin a period of practical experience, you can attach your practical experience authorization request with your application. 

 Important: The practical experience start date recognized by the Order cannot be more than 30 days earlier than the date your complete file is received.

Complete a registration application

The following application should take about 20 minutes to complete. For security reasons, information in incomplete applications will not be saved after 20 minutes of inactivity.

You must complete the following steps to be allowed to submit your application:

  • attach an electronic copy* (JPG, PNG, PDF) of each required document;
  • pay the required fees by credit card (between $1,000 and $2,000 depending on your choice of program).

* For transcripts, only the original document in PDF format or a screenshot are accepted.

  • You have a bachelor of commerce, major in accounting or a bachelor of business administration, concentration in accounting AND:

You were born in Canada

You must attach:

  • your government-issued birth certificate;
  • a government-issued identification (health insurance card, driver’s licence, passport);
  • your most recent official transcript for your undergraduate degree.

If applicable, you must also attach:

  • the letter of admission to the PEP (university graduate program) from your university;
  • the Declaration of start of practical experience and/or the Declaration of practical experience completed prior to registration with the Order.
You were born outside of Canada

You must attach:

  • your birth certificate issued by the competent authority;
  • two pieces of identification issued by the Canadian government or by the competent authority (e.g. health insurance card, driver’s licence, passport);
  • your most recent official transcript for your undergraduate degree.

If applicable, you must also attach:

  • the letter of admission to the PEP (university graduate program) from your university;
  • the Declaration of start of practical experience and/or the Declaration of practical experience completed prior to registration with the Order.
  • You have successfully completed all the required qualifying courses AND:

You were born in Canada

You must attach:

  • your government-issued birth certificate;
  • a government-issued identification (health insurance card, driver’s licence, passport);
  • the list of qualifying courses signed by the person in charge at the university AND all your official transcripts.

If applicable, you must also attach:

  • the letter of admission to the PEP (university graduate program) from your university;
  • the Declaration of start of practical experience and/or the Declaration of practical experience completed prior to registration with the Order.

You were born outside of Canada

You must attach:

  • your birth certificate issued by the competent authority;
  • two pieces of identification issued by the Canadian government or by the competent authority (e.g. health insurance card, driver’s licence, passport);
  • the list of qualifying courses signed by the person in charge at the university AND all your official transcripts.
  • your official diploma(s) AND transcripts for university courses completed abroad
  • The Comparative evaluation for studies done outside Quebec issued by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion (MIDI).

If applicable, you must also attach:

  • the letter of admission to the PEP (university graduate program) from your university;
  • the Declaration of start of practical experience and/or the Declaration of practical experience completed prior to registration with the Order.
